Every year in May a fashion show is produced by Oakland School for the Arts. Each of these shows has a theme and in 2016 the theme was ‘Cities’. I participated in this particular show and the city I chose was Gondar, Ethiopia not only because of it’s beautiful landscape but because of its rich history. Whether it be that Gondar was the home of royalty or that this country was able to defeat the Italians from colonizing them during the Battle of Adwa, the history gave me inspiration for these pieces.
